This selector appeared with the Sound Manager version 3. It returns a mnemonic code that tells what native hardware is present:
• ‘asc ’ = Apple Sound Chip
• ‘awac’ = Audio Waveform Amplifier and Converter
• ‘awgc’ = AWAC with Grand Central DMA
• ‘bsnd’ = Blue Box sound
• ‘clas’ = Classics specific chip
• ‘dsp ’ = Digital Signal Processor
• ‘sbls’ = CHRP sound
• ‘sing’ = Singer (PB520/540)
• ‘sng2’ = Singer2 (PB5300)
• ‘whit’ = Whitney (Performa 5300)
